DESCRIPTION:Join the ACEDS Jacksonville Chapter for an event.\n\n\nDavid Horrigan will be hosting a discussion on current e-discovery legal issues from the perspective of the Honorable Patricia Barksdale\, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Florida\, in advance of the UF Law E-Discovery Conference where Judge Barksdale will be a member of the Judicial Panel and Mr. Horrigan will serve as moderator.   \n\n\n\nPatricia Barksdale was sworn-in as a United States Magistrate Judge on November 1\, 2013. Judge Barksdale received her B.A. and J.D. from the University of Florida. After graduating 2nd in her law school class\, Judge Barksdale clerked for the Honorable Emmett R. Cox\, United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit\, and later for the Honorable Timothy J. Corrigan\, United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. During her legal career\, she has worked as an associate at a national law firm\, where she specialized in commercial and employment litigation; as in-house counsel at a large corporation\, where she negotiated contracts and specialized in labor and employment matters; and as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Middle District of Florida\, where she represented the United States in hundreds of appeals before the Eleventh Circuit. She has served as Chair of The Florida Bar Federal Practice Committee\, President of the Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association\, and President of the Chester Bedell American Inn of Court. She currently serves on the University of Florida Law Center Association Board of Trustees. \n\n\n\nDavid Horrigan is discovery counsel and legal education director at Relativity. An attorney\, award-winning journalist\, and former legal technology industry analyst\, he has served as counsel at the Entertainment Software Association\, reporter and assistant editor at The National Law Journal\, and analyst and counsel at 451 Research. A law school guest lecturer and legal media contributor\, David has been cited in The American Lawyer\, American Public Media\, Bloomberg BNA\, Corporate Counsel\, JUVE (Germany)\, Legaltech News\, The Wall Street Journal CIO Journal\, and The Washington Examiner\, and he has been cited in law reviews and journals of Emory University\, Northwestern University\, Yale University\, and others. He is the author of the annual Data Discovery Legal Year in Review. He holds a juris doctor from the University of Florida\, studied international law at Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands\, and is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia.

This session lays out a path of best practices for practitioners to successfully collect and use their client’s Electronic Medical Regulators  \nSpeaker: \n\n\n\nChad  S. Roberts founded eDiscovery CoCounsel\, pllc in 2013 after a successful twenty-year career as merits counsel representing consumers in complex litigation. Continuously AV rated since 1996\, he holds an Engineering Science degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated with high honors from the Florida State University College of Law. This sessions gives an overview of the benefits\, challenges and risks associated with emoji (including case law) and provides practical solutions for the problems emoji present.  \nPresenter: \n\n\n\nMatt Mahon has 15 years of experience supporting organizations with information governance and eDiscovery strategies including litigation hold\, preservation\, collection\, data processing\, review and production. How is technology used to quickly cull out junk and quickly identify privilege from the start? \n \nSpeakers:\n\n\n\nSerena Selzer is the Director of Legal Affairs for GuideWell Source\, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Florida Blue. She joined the Florida Blue family of companies in 1998.   She has extensive experience in working with the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in prosecuting physicians guilty of Medicare fraud.  In her role as Director\, Ms. Selzer is also responsible for the Records Management functions of her company and its two subsidiaries\, First Coast Service Options\, Inc. and Novitas Solutions\, Inc.  With a presence in 11 states and multiple Records vendors\, Ms. Selzer has garnered vast experience in the field of Records Management.  Ms. Selzer has a Bachelors degree in Political Science/Pre-law and a Masters degree in Criminal Justice. \n\n\n\nJoe focuses his practice on the resolution of complex business disputes and on creditors’ rights. His experience includes representation in banking\, finance and fiduciary relationships and in the property management\, development\, logistics and construction industries. Prior to entering practice\, Joe was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Paul W. Grimm\, U.S. District Judge for the District of Maryland and the then-Chair of the Discovery Subcommittee of the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules\, Judicial Conference of the United States. Joe served eight years in the Military Police Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve. As a team leader on a Police Transition Team in Iraq\, Joe spent ten months as an advisor to the Iraqi police\, teaching operations and internal\, intelligence and criminal investigations. \n\n\n\nSean Snyder is an eDiscovery professional with a continuous improvement mindset and successful track record in project management\, litigation support\, vendor relationship management\, process optimization and customer satisfaction across multiple areas including regulatory compliance\, corporate special investigations\, human resources\, multidistrict litigation and identity theft. Mr. Snyder also brings 20 years of IT experience. He is a frequent speaker on the subject of proportional litigation\, project management\, and EDRM. Mr. Snyder currently serves as a Director of Membership and Sponsorship on ACEDS Jacksonville Board.  \n\n\n\nRenee Cook brings high-caliber leadership experience as an accomplished Attorney and HR manager with a positive record of handling Employment Law and Criminal Law matters.  \nMs. Cook is an active member of the State Bar of Florida and the State Bar of Illinois. Ms. Cook participated in approximately 20 jury trials\, five of which as First Chair. Ms. Cook currently serves as a Secretary on ACEDS Jacksonville Board. \n\n\n\nBrad Koehler is a Senior Director in the Forensic Technology Services group within Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes and Investigations practice. He brings more than 13 years of experience in electronic discovery management\, applied data analytics and development of solutions to information technology issues that arise from complex litigation\, bankruptcy\, investigations and other types of disputes. Mr. Koehler specializes in advising and delivering services across the full spectrum of the electronic discovery process from information governance\, preservation and identification to collection and processing through review and production. He has significant experience managing large document reviews\, which have involved technology assisted review\, advanced analytics and the use of third party data mining and investigation tools. Mr. Koehler earned a bachelor’s degree\, with honors\, in industrial and systems engineering from Lehigh University. \n\n\n\nSuzanne H. Clark directs the Legal Project Management practice of eDiscovery CoCounsel\, pllc. Suzanne graduated from the University of Florida College of Law and began her legal career as merits counsel in commercial litigation. She later transitioned to a full-time focus on Electronic Discovery and is a nationally recognized speaker and panelist in eDiscovery education.  She is a veteran of numerous document review projects\, large and small\, ranging from a  multi-year SEC investigation involving millions of documents in Relativity to small single-event cases for personal injury firms. She holds the Certified Electronic Discovery Specialist (CEDS) designation of ACEDS\, a certification requiring a rigorous peer reviewed examination in information technology\, Project Management fundamentals\, evidence management technology\, and discovery jurisprudence. She is a frequent lecturer at legal Project Management educational events\, including the annual University of Florida eDiscovery Conference\, as well as numerous others. Suzanne co-founded the regional chapter of ACEDS which was later recognized as national Chapter of the Year for its vibrancy and outreach. She is former chair of the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Legal Technology Committee and past board member of the Jacksonville Women Lawyer’s Association.
